Students work with locally and state elected officials as they learn about Virginia’s legislative processes:

  • October: students learn how to write legislative bills, then spend the fall researching and creating their own legislative proposals for the state.
  • December, students meet with local officials and receive feedback on their proposed legislation.
  • January:  a select group of students from the club are invited to attend Advocacy Day in Richmond where they meet with state elected officials and lobbyist in order to learn about the process and importance of advocating for the needs of your community.
  • In March/April: MGA goes to the Virginia State Capitol for its annual conference and mock legislative debates.
