Johnny Stewart

is in his 28th year of teaching and, along with hosting AP Seminar and English, guides the AP Capstone program at Wakefield. He is also caretaker of Arlington Neighborhood Yoga, a non-profit organization that promotes community-friendly yoga, tai chi, and creativity programs for our neighbors and local elementary schools. Prior to joining the staff at Wakefield High School, Johnny taught in Arlington, Chicago, Illinois, and on the Mexico border, the latter with the Teach For America Program. He earned a B.A. from Macalester College and an Ed.M. in Adolescent Risk and Prevention from Harvard University. He coaches Scholastic Bowl, the exciting, exclusive Wakefield Trivia Team. In 2012, he was selected as one of the Wonder Bread “Seven Wonders of the Teaching World”, which sent him to Hawaii to teach a poetry lesson on a volcano.
