Wakefield High School Receives Purple Star Designation!

We are proud to announce that Wakefield High School has been awarded the prestigious Purple Star Designation for the 2025–2026 school year by the Virginia Council on the Educational Opportunity for Military Children.

This recognition honors our commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. Wakefield joins a distinguished group of schools across Virginia that go above and beyond to create a welcoming, inclusive, and resource-rich environment for students navigating the unique challenges of military life.

What the Award Means
– Valid for three school years: 2025–2026 through 2027–2028
– Challenge Coin & Resolution: Wakefield will receive a commemorative Purple Star Challenge Coin and official recognition resolution in the coming weeks — a nod to the military tradition of honoring service and dedication

The Purple Star Award reflects the dedication of our staff, counselors, and community partners who work tirelessly to ensure that every student — especially those connected to the military — feels supported, understood, and empowered to thrive.
