Wakefield Chess

The Wakefield chess team competed in the 2019 Winter Solstice Scholastic Chess tournament, which was held at Wakefield High School on December 21, 2019.  The all-day tournament was sponsored by the non-profit Arlington Students Chess.

Wakefield High School fielded the largest team in this tournament.  (Picture attached). The following students competed at this tournament:William Kisor, Oleksandr Humeniuk, David Carpio, Naol Jima, Fabio Rocabado, Adrian Ulm, Carlos Alvarado, Godfrey Yende.

Oleksander Humeniuk and David Carpio each scored 3-1, which gave Wakefield the highest total team score in the K-12 section.  Each student played 4 games, with 1 hour allotted per game.  All-day chess competitions requires focus, perseverance, tenacity and physical stamina.  To learn more about chess at Wakefield, visit:  www.wakefieldchess.com
