Newsworthy News Literacy is Taught Here

Reuters’s journalists Kevin Fogarty and Pavithra George covered Patricia Hunt’s US and Virginia Government class for a story on the teaching of News Literacy.  Hunt’s students are studying how to detect fake news, recognize bias, and what to share/not to share using the The News Literacy Project’s Checkology resource.

Students across the country are reporting that they are overwhelmed with the information they consume, and studies show they are woefully unprepared to make sense of it all.  Schools around the country are seeking ways to keep pace with the changing digital landscape and Hunt has found The News Literacy Project’s Checkology to be a great resource.  Checkology leads students through interactive lessons, teaching them how sort fact from fiction and how to recognize quality journalism.
