The Wakefield Boosters is managed by parent volunteers with the goal of raising funds to support the extra-curricular activities of our Wakefield students – athletics, student clubs and SGA classes – as well as support the needs of our coaches and teacher club representatives.
Our two major fundraising actives are concession stand sales and spirit wear sales.
Concession Stand – Boosters manages the inventory and staffing of the concession stands for our home games – football, field hockey, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cheer conferences, swim/dive meets, lacrosse and soccer.
We are unique in that we have our student athletic teams, clubs and SGA classes sign up to help run the concession stands for certain games to earn money for their team, club or student body class. This also provides them an opportunity to build on their customer service skills. The parents of students who play volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse and soccer can also earn money toward their students sports program by volunteering to help run the stand during our Fall & Spring sports seasons.
Spirit Wear – We promote school spirit by selling Wakefield Warrior apparel & gear. We are generally set up to sell at all football & basketball games. We sell spirit wear at major school events such as Back-to-School Night, Meet the Coaches Night, Middle School Info Night, Wakefield Holiday Shop, Sports Award Nights and Wakefield’s PTSA Spring Plant Sale. Students can also buy spirit wear at the Wakefield School Store.
Twice per year (Fall & Spring) we host an online spirit wear sale where we offer more variety in style and sizes.
For both concessions and spirit wear, our operating margins are slim. When we “make” money at the concession stand or from selling spirit wear, that money immediately goes to:
- stocking concession & stand maintenance
- replenishing spirit wear
- paying the student clubs, teams, groups/classes who work the concession stand
- fulfilling fund request for DSA, coaches, clubs, SGA and teachers
Boosters also oversee the operation of the Wakefield School Store opened 2-days per week (Tuesday & Thursdays) during all 3 lunch hours.
UPDATE on our GoFundMe campaign. We are delighted to let you know that due to your incredible generosity, Boosters has purchased a motorized vehicle for Wakefield!! It is an electric golf cart (with a brand new battery), terrain wheels, a back seat that folds down, a lift, and a cover (stock photo). A Wakefield Alum with a home-based decal and sticker business will be making beautiful decals to adorn our cart.Assuming all goes well, the cart will be here and in use in time for the start of Spring Sports. We will update you with a final photo soon. Many, many thanks for supporting our school. Warrior nation rocks!
Parent volunteers are critical to our success. Volunteering with Boosters is a fun way to make a positive impact by giving back to the school. If you are interested, please reach out to a Booster Executive Committee member.
